This is what Bruno Guimaraes said about a potential Liverpool move

Despite interest from top clubs like Liverpool and others across Europe, Brazilian midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has restated his commitment to Newcastle United amid concerns about the club’s financial situation. Guimaraes, who transferred to Newcastle in 2022 from Lyon for a reported fee of £40 million, has played a crucial role in the club’s recent achievements, including their fourth-place finish in the Premier League last season and qualification for the Champions League after a twenty-year absence. To ward off interest from clubs such as Liverpool, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, and Chelsea, Newcastle secured Guimaraes with a new five-year contract in October. However, recent developments suggest that Newcastle might need to sell players to comply with financial fair play regulations, sparking renewed interest in the 26-year-old midfielder.

IN IT FOR THE LONG HAUL

In response to persistent rumors linking him with a departure from St James’ Park, Guimaraes has emphatically stated his commitment to staying with Newcastle for the foreseeable future. Following Newcastle’s exciting 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on Saturday night, the Brazilian addressed the ongoing speculation regarding his future in an interview with Sky Sports. He expressed his contentment, saying, “Sometimes people talk a lot about me. I prefer to focus on football. I’m genuinely happy here and appreciate the support from the fans.” He continued, “I’m enjoying my time here. The fans have been incredible to me and my family. I hope this continues for a long time.”

The midfielder made it abundantly clear where his priorities lie: “Let people say what they want. Our focus is on securing Europe again, aiming for the Champions League. It’s a tough challenge, but we’re definitely aiming for the Europa League.”

Despite Liverpool bolstering their midfield with signings like Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Ryan Gravenberch, and Wataru Endo during the summer, they continue to be linked with various midfielders globally. Guimaraes would provide them with a player proven at the highest level. However, whether this admiration translates into concrete interest will depend on the identity of Jurgen Klopp’s successor in the summer.
