Breaking: Another Huskers star enters the transfer portal

The Husker’s sizable player has joined the transfer portal.

Blaise Keita officially entered the transfer portal on Tuesday, as confirmed by a source to 247Sports.

Keita marks the third Husker in the last forty-eight hours to make this move, following Ramel Lloyd Jr. and Eli Rice.

In the previous season, Keita was sidelined due to a persistent ankle injury dating back to the prior year. During the 2022-23 season, the 6-foot-11 player participated in 21 games, averaging 2.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. However, his performance was hindered by an ankle injury sustained during non-conference play that season.

Listed as a sophomore this past season, Keita joined from Coffeyville Community College.

With Keita’s departure, Nebraska now has four open scholarship spots out of thirteen as they navigate this offseason.

Critical decisions loom regarding veterans such as Rienk Mast, Brice Williams, Juwan Gary, and C.J. Wilcher, all of whom have one remaining year of eligibility.

“We’ll get some good ones in here and that starts – portal’s open,”

Following Friday’s game, Husker head coach Fred Hoiberg remarked, “This thing starts now. Used to be able to breathe a little bit when this thing ended. You don’t get to do that anymore. It’s right back to work. You’re already making calls and doing that type of thing.”

Hoiberg expressed plans to convene with all the players during the week to “figure out how to best construct the roster to help us get over this hump.”
