Breaking News: LSU star seal a vital deal

LSU’s guard and SEC Freshman of the Year, Mikaylah Williams, has entered into a partnership with Jordan Brand, as announced in a Friday afternoon Instagram post by the company. This makes her the second female college basketball player to secure an NIL deal with Jordan Brand, following UCLA’s Kiki Rice. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed, as reported by On3. Although LSU’s athletic apparel is under Nike, the brand’s parent company, Jordan Brand, has its own distinct identity, known for its Jumpman logo. Williams expressed her enthusiasm, stating that joining Jordan Brand allows her to inspire young girls and contribute to the advancement of women’s basketball. Additionally, Jordan Brand has an NIL deal with Kiyomi McMiller, a Rutgers commit, marking her as the first high school player to align with the brand.

Williams, heralded as one of the top recruits in the 2023 class, has made significant strides in her collegiate career. Her exceptional performance earned her a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team earlier this March. Throughout the season, she showcased her skills by starting in nearly all of LSU’s games and maintaining an impressive scoring average of 14.4 points per game, with a shooting accuracy of 47.2% from the field.

Her proficiency on the court is highlighted by numerous standout performances, including seven games where she scored 20 or more points. Notably, she achieved a season-high of 42 points in a game against Kent State.

As part of the No. 3 ranked LSU team, the defending NCAA champions, Williams and her teammates are set to commence their March Madness campaign with an opener against No. 14 seed Rice on Friday afternoon. Competing in the Albany Regional 2, alongside fellow top seeds No. 1 Iowa and No. 2 UCLA, LSU aims to continue its pursuit of success in the tournament.
