REPORT: Top Star Is Set To Return To Alabama In Transfer Portal After Transferring To Iowa

Once again, the NCAA transfer portal demonstrated its unpredictability on Tuesday.

Just two months ago, Kadyn Proctor, a highly-rated offensive lineman from Alabama, chose to leave the Crimson Tide and return home to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes. However, it seems Proctor has reconsidered his decision. According to Scott Dochterman of On3, Proctor has re-entered the transfer portal.

David Eickholt of 247Sports corroborated this information, stating that Proctor has decided to return to Tuscaloosa and resume his career with the Crimson Tide.

Kadyn Proctor Caused Chaos With First Entry Into Transfer Portal

Proctor’s transfer to Iowa sparked controversy when the 6-foot-8, 365-pound tackle disclosed that he had been in contact with Iowa coaches during the middle of the Alabama season, potentially exposing the Hawkeyes to NCAA violations.

In an interview shortly after announcing his initial transfer, Proctor stated, “No bridges were burned [at Iowa].” He emphasized that maintaining relationships with Iowa coaches had influenced his decision to choose them upon entering the transfer portal. Despite facing challenges in the SEC, Proctor recalled receiving supportive messages from Iowa coaches, which ultimately played a role in his decision.

Whether this interview influenced his choice to return remains uncertain, as no clear answer has emerged.

Nonetheless, Proctor’s decision to return is a significant victory for the Crimson Tide and their new head coach, Kalen DeBoer. He will be returning to the team where he started all 14 games in 2023.
