Roosters confirm to welcome back another top super star

In anticipation of his imminent return, Sydney Roosters powerhouse Jared Waerea-Hargreaves has demonstrated his readiness by featuring in a 30-minute appearance in the NSW Cup.

Waerea-Hargreaves’ comeback is well-timed for the Roosters’ forward lineup, particularly with Spencer Leniu facing a potential six to eight-week suspension following his judiciary hearing on Monday. Leniu’s disciplinary issue stemmed from alleged derogatory remarks made toward Brisbane’s Ezra Mam during a heated Round 1 encounter in Las Vegas.

Offering support for Leniu, ‘JWH’ praised his accountability and public apology, emphasizing solidarity within the team. While the loss of a three-time premiership-winning forward would be a blow for most clubs, the Roosters’ depth is showcased by the return of Waerea-Hargreaves.

Meanwhile, teammate Michael Jennings expressed his desire to make a return to the NRL at the age of 35. Having played a full 80 minutes at left centre, Jennings marked his comeback after an absence of 1253 days.

Despite facing significant hurdles during his time away, including a doping suspension and a legal dispute, Jennings remains resolute in his pursuit of an NRL return. Recounting discussions with coach Trent Robinson regarding a potential comeback opportunity with the Tri-colours, Jennings cited personal pride and familial inspiration as his driving forces.

Currently on a train-and-trial arrangement, Jennings maintains his innocence regarding past controversies and reaffirms his commitment to the sport. With nearly 300 NRL appearances to his name, Jennings’ motivations now revolve less around financial gain and more about setting an example for his children and persisting through challenges.
