Not too long ago, ACC schools adhered to an unwritten rule barring intra-conference transfers, but that’s no longer the case. Fans will need to adjust to this change, though a transfer between Duke and UNC might still feel unusual. Just as we adapted to Michael Gbinije joining Syracuse (albeit before they joined the ACC, requiring a year of sitting out), now we’ll see TJ Power at Virginia Tech and Christian Reeves at Clemson. Reeves recently declared for the Tigers, and while competing against him may not be enjoyable, it seems like a wise decision on his part.
We’ve often praised Brad Brownell for his exceptional talent development skills, and we anticipate he’ll handle Reeves well. Additionally, Clemson isn’t too far from Reeves’ hometown of Charlotte, NC, making it convenient for his family to attend games, similar to the distance to Durham. While we won’t root for him when Clemson faces Duke, overall, Reeves appears to be a great addition to the team, and we hope everything goes smoothly for him.
