Georgia head coach Kirby Smart reflected on a conversation he had with Lassiter regarding the cornerback’s contemplation of sitting out their bowl game, a decision often considered by draft prospects aiming to preserve their health before the draft:
Two days later, he reached out to me and said, “Coach, I can’t sit out. I just can’t do it.” He expressed his desire to be on the field, playing alongside his teammates. I believe he made this decision even though it might have gone against his mother’s wishes. That’s just the kind of person he is.”
Despite concerns about his speed, evidenced by his 4.65-second time in the pro day, Lassiter’s performance on tape speaks for itself. Cade Stover, who earned titles like Ohio’s Mr. Football 2018 and Gatorade Player of the Year, held a significant role for Ohio State this past season. Despite being recognized as one of the top tight ends nationally, Stover initially showcased his versatility by playing on both offense and defense at the beginning of his tenure in Columbus.
In 2023, Stover contributed 576 yards and five touchdowns to Ryan Day’s team. However, according to former Ohio State offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Kevin Wilson, Stover’s most significant impact extended beyond his offensive statistics.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio, known for his aggressive approach in elevating the Texans into Super Bowl contention in recent years, commended Stover’s resilience in playing through a knee injury and expressed high regard for his overall performance.
