TCU transfer Damonic Williams anxious to see LSU, again

The TCU standout has announced his decision to bring his skills to Norman and join the Oklahoma Sooners following an intense process in the Transfer Portal, as revealed on social media Thursday night.

Here’s an insider’s look into Williams’ decision-making journey:

Williams kicked off his visits by attending Oklahoma’s spring game on April 20, where the program made a strong impression. Throughout his visits, he meticulously assessed what each school could offer, both on and off the field. Particularly noteworthy was the comprehensive NIL package put together by Oklahoma.

Next, Williams headed to Austin for an extended stay with the Texas Longhorns, where he received lavish treatment from Steve Sarkisian and his staff. The program went all out, providing accommodations at the Four Seasons Hotel and even a Lamborghini for him to explore the city.

The plot thickened when Williams opted to skip his planned visit to Boulder with Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, choosing instead to visit Missouri.

His journey concluded with a trip to Baton Rouge, where he stayed until late Wednesday afternoon. Despite initial impressions favoring LSU, Texas and Oklahoma made compelling last-minute pitches.

Sources indicate that both Texas and Oklahoma managed to meet with Williams on Wednesday night and Thursday morning before his decision was made public. The NIL packages presented by both programs were particularly impressive.

Ultimately, the allure of Oklahoma’s NIL package combined with the opportunity to compete in the SEC proved irresistible. Williams was supported throughout the process by his mother, brother, and mentor, with his mother reportedly favoring Oklahoma from the outset.

With the decision now made, the top uncommitted defensive tackle in the NCAA Transfer Portal will bring his talents to the Oklahoma Sooners as they gear up for their inaugural season in the SEC.
