Breaking News. Dolphins owner Stephen Ross rejects huge offer.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross reportedly declined an astonishing $10 billion bid for ownership of the NFL team, the Miami Grand Prix, and Hard Rock Stadium. Allegedly, the billionaire considered the offer from an undisclosed bidder. If accepted, this would have marked the largest team sale in American sports history. However,  Ross opted to turn down the offer to maintain control within his family, with his daughter Jennifer being appointed as his successor in 2022.

Stephen Ross has reportedly turned down a $10billion offer for the Dolphins, the Miami Grand Prix and Hard Rock Stadium

On Thursday, it was revealed that majority ownership of the Dolphins is not up for grabs, indicating that the 2022 sale of the Denver Broncos for $4.65 billion still holds the record for the most expensive sports franchise sale to date.

Since assuming ownership of the Dolphins in 2009, Ross has reportedly invested over $1 billion in the team and associated ventures. Notably, he allocated half a billion dollars towards the extensive renovation of Hard Rock Stadium in 2015. This venue has become a prominent host for events such as Super Bowls and college football national title games in recent years.

In 2019, Ross and Dolphins CEO Tom Garfinkel played significant roles in relocating the Miami Open tennis event to Hard Rock Stadium’s premises. Additionally, they oversaw the construction of the Miami International Autodrome adjacent to the stadium, facilitating the hosting of a Formula One Grand Prix since 2022.

This weekend, South Florida anticipates an influx of up to 90,000 fans for the 2024 Miami Grand Prix, featuring performances by renowned artists like Ed Sheeran. Furthermore, the 65,000-seater Hard Rock Stadium is slated to host the Copa America final this summer and will be among the venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
