On Monday, the University of Missouri men’s basketball team bolstered its roster by signing  a two-year starter from Duke.

Mitchell, who was ranked as high as the No. 7 transfer nationally by CBS Sports, showcased his talents during his tenure at Duke, starting in 67 out of 68 games over two seasons. Standing at 6-foot-9, the forward amassed 700 points for the Blue Devils, averaging 10.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. His contributions helped Duke secure 54 wins, including 29 victories in the ACC, an ACC Tournament championship, and two NCAA Tournament appearances, including a run to the 2024 Elite Eight.

Coach Dennis Gates of the Whitten Family Men’s Basketball team expressed excitement about Mitchell’s addition, praising his versatility and track record as a winner. Gates anticipates that Mitchell will excel in their system, citing his ability to impact both ends of the court. Hailing from Kansas City, Kansas, Mitchell had a standout sophomore season at Duke in 2023-24, averaging 11.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He was also recognized on the Julius Erving Award Watch List for the nation’s top small forward, showcasing his scoring prowess with multiple 20-point performances and double-doubles.
