Good News: Auburn Tigers Standout Player Decides Not To Enter The Transfer Portal

It seems that the Auburn Tigers are retaining one of their promising young defensive backs. Despite earlier indications of Tyler Scott and Colton Hood considering transfers, it now appears that Scott will remain with the team. This decision boosts Auburn’s defensive secondary by restoring some of its depth. Scott’s return means he can contribute depth and assistance in the upcoming 2024 season, and he’ll have the opportunity to vie for a more significant role, possibly even a starting position, in 2025. Compared to last year, when he only played nine snaps against the Samford Bulldogs, Scott is expected to have a more prominent role this season.

Scott, hailing from Mableton, GA, arrived at Auburn as a highly regarded four-star recruit. He joins a talented pool of players in the defensive back room, where competition for playing time is fierce. Initially, when reports surfaced earlier this week suggesting his entry into the transfer portal, the assumption was that he sought more opportunities elsewhere. However, something evidently changed, leading to his decision to remain with Auburn, as reported.

Auburn has experienced departures, including Hood, slot receiver Jay Fair, and buck linebacker Brenton Williams, who have entered the transfer portal. In response, the Tigers have bolstered their roster by adding defensive linemen Philip Blidi and Isaiah Raikes to reinforce the interior defensive line. Additionally, they’ve acquired Keyron Crawford from Arkansas State to enhance their pass rush. Notably, they’ve secured commitments from top receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith via the transfer portal.

Players have until Tuesday to enter the transfer portal, though this deadline only pertains to entry and not to final commitments or signings with new schools.
