Chargers confirm the signing of another top super star

The Los Angeles Chargers are further expanding their roster with players connected to the coaching lineage of Jim Harbaugh. They have recently secured the signature of free agent running back JK Dobbins on a one-year contract.

Before Adam Schefter officially reported JK Dobbins’ signing with the Chargers, Dobbins hinted at the move with a post on X.

This signing marks the second former Baltimore Ravens running back to join the Chargers this offseason, with Gus Edwards being the first. Edwards and Dobbins, who previously formed a potent rushing tandem, will reunite under the guidance of former Ravens offensive coordinator Greg Roman, who now serves as the Chargers’ offensive coordinator. This move also symbolizes a trade of sorts between the Harbaugh brothers, with the Chargers transitioning from John Harbaugh’s coaching influence to that of Jim Harbaugh.

J.K. Dobbins Doesn't Believe in Slowing Down

Dobbins, aged 25, was drafted by the Ravens in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft from Ohio State University. Despite an impressive rookie season, where he rushed for 805 yards and 9 touchdowns, Dobbins has faced significant setbacks due to injuries. He missed the entire 2021 season due to a torn ACL sustained in preseason, and in 2022, he played in only 8 games due to knee issues. His 2023 season was also cut short by a torn Achilles tendon suffered in Week 1. The Chargers are optimistic that Dobbins will finally achieve full health in 2024 and contribute positively to the team.
