In expressing his gratitude, Roach thanked various figures including Jon Scheyer, Mike Krzyzewski, assistant coaches, managers, staff, teammates, and the Cameron Crazies for making his four years at Duke special. He emphasized his enduring connection to the Blue Devils and expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to call Duke home.

A former McDonald’s All-American, Roach’s freshman year saw him averaging 8.7 points, with steady improvement each subsequent season. Notably, he played a pivotal role in Duke’s Final Four appearance in 2021-22, showcasing his talent with key performances, including leading a comeback against Michigan State in the second round that year.

With Roach potentially departing, Duke is set for significant roster changes in the upcoming season, with only Tyrese Proctor remaining from the current lineup. Other players like Christian Reeves, Mark Mitchell, Jaylen Blakes, and Jaden Schutt have also entered the transfer portal, while Kyle Filipowski and Jared McCain are declaring for the NBA draft. Additionally, former Northwestern player Ryan Young has exhausted his eligibility.

Scheyer is poised to make a significant impact with Duke’s recruiting efforts, as he secures the nation’s top-ranked recruiting class. This incoming class is headlined by the No. 1 prospect, Cooper Flagg, and also features top-10 recruit Isaiah Evans.
