Breaking: All-American Forward Announces Return To Auburn For Final Season

Auburn’s forward, Johni Broome, has decided to come back to the Tigers’ basketball team for his last season. This news is significant for head coach Bruce Pearl, especially following Auburn’s success in securing their third SEC Tournament title last season. Broome’s return follows his remarkable performance in 2023, where he became only the second player in program history to be named a consensus All-American. He boasted impressive averages of 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. Additionally, Broome received recognition with first-team All-SEC honors and a spot on the All-SEC Defensive Team.

In his two seasons with the Tigers, Broome showcased his consistency by starting in 67 out of 68 career games. He maintained strong averages of 15.3 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. His remarkable performance put him in contention for prestigious accolades such as the Naismith and John R. Wooden National Player of the Year awards.

Before joining Auburn, Broome began his collegiate career at Morehead State, where he made a significant impact. He was recognized as a two-time All-OVC selection for the Eagles. Additionally, he received the OVC Freshman of the Year award for the 2020-21 season and was honored as the Defensive Player of the Year during the 2021-22 season.
