Latest Panthers News: Panthers star deletes social media amidst speeding controversy

Taylan May, the Penrith Panthers’ standout center, has taken the step of deleting his Instagram account amid a controversy surrounding a video of speeding. The footage, reportedly showing May as a passenger in a car traveling at over 95km per hour past a school, surfaced after he initially shared it on his Instagram story over a week ago. However, it gained wider attention over the weekend as others reposted it across various social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Reddit.

This incident has prompted an investigation by the NRL’s integrity unit, though they are currently unsure how to address it given May’s position as a passenger rather than the driver.

Harold Scruby, chairman and CEO of the Pedestrian Council of Australia, has strongly condemned the actions depicted in the speeding video involving Taylan May. He labeled the behavior as “utterly irresponsible” and “stupid,” particularly in the context of the current high road toll in NSW. Scruby highlighted the significant number of fatalities and serious injuries on the roads, emphasizing that individuals like May, as public figures, should be setting a positive example for the community, especially children. He expressed sadness over the incident, noting the potential life-threatening consequences of such reckless behavior.

The Penrith Panthers have reportedly addressed the situation with Taylan May, but they have yet to offer an official statement regarding the incident.
