‘Huge boost’ Missouri Tigers reportedly confirm the signing of another top super star

A graduate transfer from Iowa, has decided to join Missouri, according to information obtained by 247Sports.

Standing at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing 205 pounds, Perkins, who hails from Indianapolis, Indiana, played in 34 games for the Hawkeyes this season, maintaining averages of 14 points, 4.6 assists, and 4.4 rebounds per game.

From a selection of finalists including Arkansas, Indiana, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Ole Miss, Perkins opted for the Tigers. His commitment marks a significant addition to Missouri’s roster for the upcoming season, alongside Jacob Crews, a transfer from Tennessee-Martin.

Ranked as the 12th point guard in the 247Sports Transfer Portal Rankings, Perkins will have one season of eligibility remaining once he officially joins the Tigers.

The transfer portal opened on March 18th and will stay accessible until Wednesday, May 1st. Within this period, players can initiate the transfer process by submitting paperwork to their current institution, leading to their inclusion in the NCAA Portal database within 48 hours of paperwork receipt.

Players who have accumulated enough credits to graduate can enter the transfer portal at any time, labeled as “Grad Transfer,” both before the March 18th to May 1st window and after its closure.

Additionally, players from teams experiencing coaching changes, such as a head coach being fired or taking another job, are granted a 30-day window outside the March 18th to May 1st timeframe to enter the portal.

Once a player officially enters the transfer portal, other schools are permitted to initiate contact and commence the recruitment process.

This offseason, a new rule will significantly impact the transfer market. Previously, players were granted a one-time transfer waiver. However, if they transferred a second time, they needed NCAA approval for immediate eligibility.

However, in a recent memo by the NCAA, transfers this spring are anticipated to be immediately eligible for the 2024-25 season, eliminating the need for waivers in most cases.
