Shortly following his high-profile transfer to the Houston Texans, wide receiver Stefon Diggs utilized social media to indirectly criticize fans of the Buffalo Bills.

Initially, Diggs expressed a sincere farewell to Bills supporters on his Instagram account. However, a few days later, he indirectly endorsed a message on social media that criticized Bills fans, stating, “Bills lowkey got the worse fanbase y’all bitter asf in the comments.”

This action stirred controversy among some fans, although Buffalo Bills veteran Dion Dawkins empathized with the intense sentiments from both parties. During an appearance on the Jim Rome Show on April 12, Dawkins acknowledged that both fans and Diggs have the right to express their emotions following a highly charged separation.

“I’m for it,” Dawkins said.

Before his trade to the Texans, Stefon Diggs had been embroiled in controversy for over a year. The wide receiver utilized social media to post a string of enigmatic messages suggesting dissatisfaction with the team. Additionally, he concluded the season on a low note, enduring a seven-game stretch without scoring a touchdown.

Dawkins emphasized that fans have the right to form their own opinions about the situation. He also acknowledged that players should expect heightened scrutiny for all their actions.

Dawkins expressed understanding for the diverse range of emotions fans might feel, acknowledging their freedom to be mad, bitter, sad, or happy about the situation. He recognized that fans’ feelings toward Diggs might fluctuate, but stressed the essential bond between players and supporters, emphasizing their mutual dependence.

Additionally, Dawkins extended support to the fans, affirming his allegiance to them and to the “Mafia,” a term often used to describe the Bills fanbase.

Despite the trade, Dawkins didn’t harbor any resentment toward Diggs. Shortly after the trade, he shared a farewell post on social media featuring pictures of himself with Diggs, indicating a positive and respectful parting.
