Breaking: Milwaukee Brewers claim another vital player off waivers

“The Milwaukee Brewers are showing a proactive approach in the waiver wire at the start of this season. After successfully claiming Vladimir Gutierrrez earlier, they have now acquired another pitcher using the same method.”

The Brewers’ latest addition is right-handed pitcher Corbin Martin. He was selected in the second round of the 2017 MLB draft by the Houston Astros and was notably part of a major trade in 2019 that included Zack Greinke. Initially viewed as a promising prospect out of Texas A&M, Martin garnered attention among the top 100 prospects. However, due to injuries and a decline in performance over the years, his stock has considerably diminished.

Corbin Martin has been optioned to Triple-A.

Following his claim, Martin was then sent down to Triple-A Nashville. His stint with the Arizona Diamondbacks came to an end after allowing three earned runs in three innings in their farm system. Martin’s last appearance in the majors dates back to 2022.

J.B. Bukauskas and Corbin Martin were both involved in the 2019 trade involving Zack Greinke.

Returning to the 2019 trade that sent Zack Greinke from Arizona to Houston, the Astros relinquished Corbin Martin, J.B. Bukauskas, Josh Rojas, and Seth Beer in the exchange. Both Bukauskas and Martin were selected in the 2017 draft, with Bukauskas being the Astros’ first-round pick that year (15th overall). Interestingly, they will now reunite in Milwaukee, as Bukauskas was acquired by the Brewers last year.
