Breaking: Gators reportedly confirm another top signing

Alexis opted for Florida from a selection pool that also included Georgia, Mississippi State, Providence, and Xavier. Standing at 6-foot-9 and weighing 230 pounds, Alexis hails from Apopka, Florida. His performance this season earned him recognition, landing on the All-SOCON Third Team and Defensive Team. He maintained impressive averages of 10.8 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. By committing to Florida, Alexis becomes the inaugural addition to Todd Golden’s 2024 recruiting class via the portal.

The transfer portal opened on March 18th and will continue to accept submissions until Wednesday, May 1st. During this period, players can initiate the transfer process by submitting paperwork to their current institution. Once the paperwork is received, the player must be added to the NCAA Portal database within 48 hours. Graduating players can enter the portal outside this window, labeled as “Grad Transfers.” Additionally, players have a 30-day window following coaching changes to enter the portal, independent of the March 18th-May 1st timeframe.

Once a player enters the portal, other schools are allowed to engage in recruiting activities. Notably, a new rule this offseason permits transfers to be immediately eligible for the upcoming 2024-25 season, signaling a significant shift in the transfer market from previous years where waivers were required for immediate eligibility after a second transfer.
