Bills EDGE Von Miller Turns Heads With Post Predicting NFL Draft Trade

Von Miller expressed anticipation for the Buffalo Bills to shake things up in the upcoming NFL Draft. On April 12, the Pro Bowl edge rusher shared a meme video on Instagram featuring general manager Brandon Beane energetically walking onto a stage. Miller’s accompanying message foresees the team executing a trade during the draft to acquire a fresh wide receiver.

“Brandon Beane arriving to the 2024 NFL draft to trade up for a WR,” Miller wrote, adding, “In Beane we TRUST.”

Numerous analysts have also speculated that the Bills might trade up in the first round to secure one of the top receiver prospects, a move that Miller seemed to support.

Bills Fans Wary of Von Miller’s Track Record

Some Bills fans interpreted Miller’s post more as a hopeful gesture than a concrete prediction, considering his history of making predictions about the team’s roster moves that didn’t pan out. During the early stages of the 2022 season, he had shared multiple messages forecasting the team’s signing of former teammate Odell Beckham Jr. He even expressed certainty about the signing, stating on Richard Sherman’s podcast, “He’s coming to the Bills. It’s already said and done.” However, despite Miller’s confidence, Beckham Jr. didn’t end up joining the team.

Beckham ultimately sat out the entire 2022 season due to rehabbing a torn ACL, later signing with the Baltimore Ravens the following year.

Miller has developed a close relationship with Beane, who took the seasoned edge rusher under his wing to impart knowledge about the intricacies of being a general manager. Miller has expressed his desire to transition into a general manager role after retiring from the NFL, and Beane extended an invitation for Miller to shadow him during league meetings last offseason.

Beane expressed confidence in Miller’s post-career aspirations, stating, “I do think he’ll do it. He seems like – as I’ve gotten to know him – when he’s got something on his mind, he’s serious about it.” Beane appreciated Miller’s commitment, noting that Miller didn’t just attend a few meetings but continued to delve deeper into the role.

Insiders Back Von Miller’s Prediction

Miller isn’t the only one foreseeing the possibility of the Bills trading up in the draft later this month. Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic suggested that the team could seize the opportunity to secure one of the top three wide receiver prospects.

While Buscaglia acknowledged that the top-rated receiver, Marvin Harrison Jr., might be out of reach, he pointed out that the Bills could potentially trade up to acquire either LSU receiver Malik Nabers or Washington’s Rome Odzune.

Buscaglia argued, “There is a compelling case for the Bills moving up the board into the back half of the top 10 for either Nabers or Odzune and taking advantage of the circumstances of a strong receiver draft class.”

Notably, Beane has demonstrated a willingness to trade up in the first round previously, having done so in 2022 to secure cornerback Kaiir Elam and again last year to draft tight end Dalton Kincaid.
