Stoke City lodge key plan to pull off major change at bet365 Stadium

Stoke City has submitted plans to expand a car park and construct a new footpath for away fans at the bet365 Stadium. Last month, the club announced a relocation of visiting supporters from the south stand to the south-east corner for the upcoming season, aiming to enhance the stadium’s atmosphere.

The club is now seeking approval for various external modifications to facilitate this change. These include establishing a new internal path connecting the away coach park to the existing route from Stanley Matthews Way to the south-east corner of the stadium. Additionally, they propose installing a two-meter high fence to separate home and away fans, along with four new CCTV columns to aid crowd control. Furthermore, Stoke City intends to enlarge the current players’ car park by approximately 371 square meters, resulting in an additional 20 parking spaces and raising the total capacity to 1,909.

As outlined in the application submitted to Stoke-on-Trent City Council, the extension of the car park aims to cater to the parking needs of Stoke City players and staff during match events. The proposed fencing and gates are intended for public safety, ensuring segregation between home and visiting fans due to the relocation of away fans.

A decision on the plans is expected from the city council by the end of May.
