Breaking news: Panthers reportedly confirm the signing of another star

The Penrith Panthers have revealed they’ve prolonged the contract of a forward player to enhance their squad depth, following his arrival at the club during the 2022 season.

Preston Riki has secured an extension to his contract for the upcoming season (2025), having been moved up from a developmental contract to a Top 30 roster position earlier this year.

Arriving from the New Zealand Warriors a couple of seasons ago, Riki has been a consistent presence and an important asset in the Panthers’ NSW Cup team. He has also previously represented the Maori All Stars in the annual All Stars game.

His promotion comes as he aims to make his debut in the NRL, despite being hampered by various injuries throughout his career.

“On behalf of the entire Panthers community, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to Preston for his elevation to the NRL squad and for choosing to continue his journey with our club,” stated Matt Cameron, CEO of Panthers Rugby League, in a press release.

“Despite facing a few injury hurdles in recent years, Preston’s resilience, diligence, and commitment to the Panthers have shone through. We’re delighted to witness Preston’s ongoing presence in Panthers attire, and we eagerly anticipate his continued growth and success in his career.”
