BREAKING: LSU coach Matt McMahon pulls in a third four-star recruit for Tigers’ 2024 class

Following the departure of starting guards Jordan Wright and Trae Hannibal after exhausting their eligibility, LSU men’s basketball coach Matt McMahon entered the offseason seeking reinforcements for the perimeter. In the past week, McMahon successfully bolstered the position by securing two additions who are slated to complement sophomore Mike Williams and incoming freshman Curtis Givens in the Tigers’ revamped backcourt for the upcoming season.

Initially, McMahon acquired Cam Carter from Kansas State via the transfer portal. Subsequently, he secured a commitment from Vyctorius Miller, whose official signing is anticipated once the spring signing period commences on April 17.

Standing at 6 feet 5 inches and weighing 170 pounds, Miller will join Givens, a native of Memphis who spent this season at Montverde Academy in Florida, and Robert Miller from Houston in LSU’s 2024 recruiting class. With Givens and the two Millers all earning four-star ratings, LSU’s recruiting class has propelled the team to 13th in the national rankings according to On3.com and 247 Sports.

Vyctorius Miller hails from esteemed musical lineage as the son of Vyshonn Miller, famously known as the rapper Silkk the Shocker, and the nephew of the renowned rapper Master P, both natives of New Orleans.

Prior to committing to LSU, the younger Miller, who played this season at Irvine Crean Lutheran in California, was released from his national letter of intent by Oregon. He initially signed with the Ducks last November, choosing them over options such as Southern Cal, LSU, Gonzaga, and the G-League Unite.

According to On3 rankings, Vyctorius Miller is positioned as the 67th overall player and the 14th best shooting guard nationally.

Meanwhile, Curtis Givens, standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 180 pounds, holds a rank of 66th overall and is regarded as the 10th best point guard in the nation. On the other hand, Robert Miller, a 6 feet 10 inches tall power forward weighing 225 pounds, holds the 46th overall spot and is the eighth-best prospect nationally in his position.

LSU’s backcourt scenario saw not only the departure of Wright, Hannibal, and Williams after completing their eligibility but also the suspension of Jalen Cook by McMahon late in the regular season. Cook’s return seems unlikely for the upcoming season, while Carlos Stewart’s future with the program remains uncertain due to a knee problem that sidelined him for the final 19 games.
