Huge boost for Panthers as they reportedly confirm contract extension of another vital player

The Penrith Panthers scored a victory in player acquisitions as hooker Mitch Kenny agreed to extend his contract for three more years. With this extension, Kenny will continue to represent the club until the conclusion of the 2027 season. This move solidifies his position within the team, especially after his standout performance last year, where he replaced Apisai Koroisau and even scored a try in the grand final.

“I’m thrilled to commit to the Panthers because this place is home to me,” Kenny said.

“Ivan Cleary and the entire club have been behind me since day one, and I’m eager to show my gratitude by giving my all. I’m thrilled for the chance to keep wearing the Panthers jersey and serving our community for another three seasons.”

The 26-year-old debuted for the Panthers in 2019, having honed his skills in junior rugby league with the club. Since then, Kenny has amassed 86 NRL appearances and clinched two premierships, notably stepping up as a late starter in the 2022 triumph against the Eels.

Shane Elford, Panthers general manager, expressed delight at Kenny’s contract extension, highlighting his embodiment of the club’s core values such as courage, determination, and team dedication.

Kenny’s re-signing follows a one-match suspension earlier in the year, along with a $10,000 fine (half suspended), stemming from an Instagram story that cast a negative light on the game.

Additionally, the Panthers have recently confirmed contract renewals for centres Taylan May and Izack Tago. However, they face challenges in retaining winger Sunia Turuva, who is rumored to be fielding offers upwards of $500,000 per season.
