Huge blow for Auburn as another star declares his intension to enter transfer portal

Auburn’s sophomore point guard, Tre Donaldson, has declared his intention to enter the transfer portal, as revealed in an Instagram announcement on Wednesday morning. This decision follows Donaldson’s sophomore season, during which he shared starting point guard responsibilities with freshman Aden Holloway. Donaldson started in 10 of Auburn’s 35 games during the past season.

Experiencing an uptick in performance from his freshman to sophomore year, Donaldson concluded the season with averages of 6.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game, along with a notable 3-point shooting percentage of 41.2%.

With the presence of Holloway and the addition of highly regarded point guard recruit Tahaad Pettiford, Donaldson foresaw a crowded competition for the point guard position at Auburn.

Originally hailing from Tallahassee, Florida, Donaldson, a former two-sport athlete, initially committed to Auburn in August 2021 with plans to play both football and basketball for the Tigers before ultimately deciding to concentrate on basketball.
