‘Good News’ LSU basketball lands another homegrown talent in a transfer from the Big 12

Carter contributed significantly with eight rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one blocked shot, showcasing a well-rounded performance in his return to Louisiana.

Expressing enthusiasm, McMahon stated, “We’re thrilled to have Cam Carter back representing his home state. His defensive tenacity and competitive spirit, coupled with his proven offensive prowess in the Big 12, make him a valuable addition to our team. Ultimately, Cam’s ability to influence victories is what we’re eager to capitalize on at LSU.”

Throughout his collegiate career, Carter has been part of 63 winning games. During his tenure at K-State, he made 94 successful 3-point shots, including three in the victory against LSU in December.

Carter achieved a personal best of 28 points against Miami in November and has tallied 37 double-digit scoring games in his career. He reached double digits in 27 out of 34 games this season, maintaining a streak of 14 consecutive games.

With the upcoming season in mind, McMahon recognized the necessity to strengthen the perimeter, especially with only one guard, Mike Williams, expected to return. Starters Jordan Wright and Trae Hannibal have completed their eligibility, and the return of Jalen Cook, who was suspended, seems unlikely. Additionally, Carlos Stewart’s availability for next season remains uncertain due to a knee injury that kept him out of the final 19 games.

To address these gaps, McMahon has already secured commitments from promising prospects. Curtis Givens, a four-star point guard from Montverde Academy in Florida, chose LSU over Memphis and Texas. Givens, standing at 6-3, is ranked No. 66 nationally and No. 10 among point guards by On3 Sports. Another early signee for LSU is Robert Miller, a 6-10, 225-pound power forward from Houston.
