Trevor Schmidt, a versatile player capable of filling roles at first base and outfield, has announced his commitment to LSU baseball via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Friday.

Schmidt took a redshirt during his freshman year at Arizona in 2022 and subsequently transferred to Fullerton College for the current season.

Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 221 pounds, Schmidt was ranked as the 26th outfielder and the 127th overall player in California during his high school tenure, as per Perfect Game evaluations.

LSU’s recruitment efforts also secured Blaise Priester, a junior college catcher, in November. Priester brings experience from Meridian Community College, having spent the past two seasons there after initially committing to LSU out of high school.

Among the current roster, LSU features three former junior college players: Fidel Ulloa as a right-handed pitcher, Ben Nippolt as an infielder, and Nate Ackenhausen as a left-handed pitcher.

The LSU Tigers are set to continue their three-game series against Arkansas at Baum-Walker Field on Saturday, with the first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m. Viewers can catch the game live on SEC Network.
