John Collins, who worked as a recruiting and personnel analyst with Georgia football for the last two years, has been appointed as the assistant director of recruiting at the University of Michigan. During his tenure at Georgia, he played a pivotal role in securing the nation’s top recruiting class in the 2024 cycle.

Michigan, led by Sherrone Moore, made waves earlier in the offseason by recruiting Tony Alford from Ohio State to replace Mike Hart as their running backs coach. In the 2024 recruiting cycle, Michigan ranked 16th nationally with 26 commitments and currently boasts three commitments for the upcoming class.

For Georgia, Collins’ departure creates another vacancy in recruiting, adding to the series of staffing changes this offseason, which included replacing key recruiting assistant coaches such as Dell McGee, Fran Brown, and Bryan McClendon. Despite the departures, Georgia maintains a strong recruiting presence with five commitments for the class of 2025 and holds the 15th overall recruiting class ranking according to 247Sports.
