Latest: EFL makes major announcement involving Charlton Athletic

The 2024 EFL Awards have recognized Charlton Athletic as the League One Community Club of the Season, marking their outstanding contributions to the community. Their achievements will be celebrated at Parliament on Tuesday afternoon alongside other divisional winners from the Championship and League Two.

Charlton Athletic Community Trust (CACT) stood out among 24 clubs in the division due to their exceptional work, which has been steadily growing since becoming an independent charity in 2003. With over 25,000 participants annually across more than 65 programs, CACT has generated a social value of £49,609,000, demonstrating a significant return on investment.

Jason Morgan, CEO of CACT, expressed pride in their continuous efforts and the difference their programs make in the community. He credited the dedicated staff for the award, highlighting their commitment. Charlton Athletic Managing Director, James Rodwell, emphasized the essential role CACT plays in enhancing the lives of many in the local community, commending their extraordinary contribution.

The EFL recognized Charlton’s initiatives such as their school project on the Isle of Sheppey and innovative support for the NHS. Trevor Birch, CEO of the EFL, expressed his honor in celebrating the winners, noting the profound impact of club community work across the 72 towns and cities served by EFL clubs.
