Latest Bengals News: NFL insider provides new update on Tee Higgins trade talks

“We’ve received fresh information regarding trade discussions involving Tee Higgins, as reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Higgins expressed his desire to be traded from the Cincinnati Bengals early in free agency due to the lack of progress on a long-term contract extension. Fowler suggests that the Bengals are open to entertaining potential offers for the talented wide receiver.

While the Bengals are not obligated to trade Higgins since he remains under team control next season via the franchise tag, they may consider doing so if presented with an attractive offer.

Fowler shared insights on the matter in a recent ESPN appearance, as relayed by Bleacher Report.”

“He wants out, he has made the trade request. I talked to a few teams who are interested who believe that the Bengals are at least willing to listen. That’s a little softer than they might have been a year ago where they definitely were not trading him. So, teams are going to try to pry him out. New England’s been high-end shopping for receiver help, perhaps they try to give up a Day 2 pick to get Higgins.”

Numerous teams across the league are likely interested in acquiring a promising young receiver like Higgins, so it’s reasonable to anticipate that the Bengals will receive several offers. Ultimately, the quality of these offers will play a pivotal role in any decision made.

While the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft isn’t a strict deadline for the Bengals, it holds significance as the team would prefer to secure a deal before draft day to potentially recoup draft picks for the current year as part of any trade package.

Even if a trade doesn’t materialize before the draft, observing the Bengals’ approach to the receiver position during the draft will be insightful. If they opt to select a receiver early in the draft, it could suggest their willingness to move on from Higgins.
