Breaking News: Philadelphia Eagles confirm another vital signing

Following a quarterback trade on March 15th, the Philadelphia Eagles have now added another quarterback to their roster. They announced the signing of Will Grier to a one-year contract on Saturday. However, neither Grier nor Kenny Pickett, who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers, are expected to challenge the current starter, Jalen Hurts.

Grier joins the Eagles after spending the last three weeks of the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Chargers. Despite being on the active roster of the New England Patriots and the practice squads of both the Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals during the 2023 season, Grier did not play in any regular-season games.

Grier entered the NFL in 2019 as the 100th overall pick from West Virginia. While he started two games for the Carolina Panthers as a rookie, he hasn’t seen regular-season action in the NFL since then. He also had stints with the Panthers in 2020 and the Dallas Cowboys in 2021 and 2022.

As for Kenny Pickett, a first-round draft pick in 2022, he started 24 games over the past two seasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, his position became surplus to requirements after the Steelers signed Russell Wilson.

Hurts, the former Alabama standout, achieved the runner-up position for the 2022 Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player Award. He secured a significant contract extension with Philadelphia, signing a five-year deal worth $255 million last offseason. Additionally, he earned a spot in the Pro Bowl Games following the 2023 season.

Apart from Hurts, the Eagles have another quarterback on their roster named Tanner McKee. He was chosen by Philadelphia in the sixth round of last year’s draft, but he has yet to make an appearance in an NFL regular-season game.
