Tranmere’s manager Nigel Adkins delivers ‘bold’ verdict on Red Dragons promotion fate

Phil Parkinson’s team attempted 25 shots throughout the match at the Racecourse Ground but failed to find the back of the net.

According to The Leader, Adkins shared his assessment of the Red Dragons, stating, “Wrexham are likely to secure promotion, and despite playing on a remarkable pitch away from home, we managed to secure three points. We anticipated an opportunity would arise. Following that, we had to adopt a defensive stance as they gained momentum, making it challenging for us to maintain possession.”

Wrexham tipped for promotion by League Two boss

Wrexham currently occupies the 3rd position in the fourth-tier table, with eight matches remaining in the season. They trail the league leaders, Mansfield, by five points but hold a game in hand over MK Dons, who are in 4th place.

Phil Parkinson’s team has faced frustration in recent matches, drawing 0-0 against Harrogate Town at home and suffering a loss to Tranmere. However, they maintain a strong position in the league standings and are gearing up for their upcoming match against Grimsby Town on Saturday, aiming to return to winning form.

Since their promotion from the National League last year, Wrexham has adjusted smoothly to life in the Football League, alongside Notts County. Their current standing in the automatic promotion places reflects the commendable work done by Parkinson in integrating the team, despite the advantageous financial circumstances.

As they approach the business end of the season, Wrexham’s focus is on securing promotion to League One, a task well within their grasp. Neil Adkins, Tranmere’s manager, acknowledges Wrexham’s quality and believes they have what it takes to ascend. While Tranmere sits in 14th place, they too harbor aspirations for promotion, being only seven points adrift of the playoff spots.
