Chargers News: New Odds Reveal Who Bolts May Select With 5th Overall Pick

The Los Angeles Chargers’ choices for the upcoming 2024 NFL draft have significantly simplified. With the departure of star wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, the team faces a considerable gap in its wide receiver lineup. However, all indications, including the insights of oddsmakers, suggest that the Chargers are poised to fill this void by selecting LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers with the fifth overall pick.

Nabers’ potential selection at number five aligns well with the Chargers’ needs, particularly with quarterback Justin Herbert requiring reliable pass catchers. Nabers, at just 20 years old, brings explosive route-running skills and the ability to adjust mid-stride effectively, making him a formidable matchup for defensive backs. His exceptional ball skills hint at his potential as a deep threat in the NFL, attributes that the Chargers could now utilize following the departures of Williams and Allen.

While Nabers is the frontrunner, it’s worth noting the surprising presence of Michigan quarterback J.J McCarthy as the second-best odds player (+425). McCarthy’s ascent in draft rankings raises speculation about the Chargers’ intentions, although it seems unlikely given Herbert’s established position as the team’s quarterback. Nonetheless, with the team’s recent personnel changes, nothing can be entirely discounted under the new regime.
