Breaking News: Browns agree terms to sign top NFL star

Unexpectedly, the Browns have signed another quarterback, further swelling their already packed lineup for the 2024 season. According to the initial report by Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns have reached an agreement with free-agent quarterback Tyler Huntley.

The decision to sign Tyler Huntley comes as a surprise, especially following the recent acquisition of Jameis Winston on a one-year deal, despite Winston not yet being officially introduced by the team.

With Deshaun Watson, Winston, and last year’s 5th-round pick Dorian Thompson-Robinson already in the mix, the Browns now find themselves with four quarterbacks boasting NFL experience, creating a tight roster situation. This signing raises more questions than answers.

Huntley, however, has proven himself a capable backup, stepping up for the Baltimore Ravens when Lamar Jackson faced injury issues. In both 2021 and 2022, he started four games each season, accumulating 1,739 passing yards, five touchdowns, seven interceptions, along with 431 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He also started a playoff game in 2022, delivering 226 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, while adding 54 rushing yards in a Wild Card loss to the Bengals. His performance earned him a Pro Bowl alternate nod.

In 2023, Huntley started only one game, but showed promise, completing 21 out of 37 attempts for 203 yards and three touchdowns.

During his college career at Utah, Huntley was a three-year starter, amassing 7,351 passing yards, 46 touchdowns, and 1,146 rushing yards.

The Browns now face significant decisions regarding their quarterback situation, given the depth of talent, all of whom saw action in the 2023 season. While depth may be a consideration given past circumstances, clarity is needed, leaving this as a looming question for the organization in both the immediate and future stages of the 2024 season.

Stay tuned to the OBR for further insights and updates on this matter from both the team and our staff as we seek more clarity.
