Breaking News: Lions reportedly re-work DL’s deal to create space

Defensive lineman John Cominsky has agreed to revise his contract with the Detroit Lions. According to NFLPA records, Cominsky’s base salary will decrease from $5.1 million to $2.5 million, but he will receive an additional $500,000 guaranteed bonus. This adjustment will reduce his 2024 cap hit from $6.3 million to $4.2 million.

Cominsky originally signed a two-year, $8.5 million extension after the 2022 season, which included a $2.4 million signing bonus, $4 million in guaranteed money, and an average annual salary of $4,250,000. Previously with the Atlanta Falcons, Cominsky, a former 2019 fourth-round pick, has played 57 games in his career, amassing 7.5 sacks, 107 combined tackles, six passes defensed, and 25 quarterback hits. Lions head coach Dan Campbell praised Cominsky’s versatility, noting his ability to play various roles on the defensive line and his contributions to the team’s pass rush and run defense.
