The seasoned Tennessee Titans standout, known for his remarkable performance against the Ravens with an average of over 8 yards per carry in their last encounter, has agreed to a lucrative two-year deal worth $16 million, with $9 million guaranteed for the initial year. A reliable source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed this information to The Baltimore Banner. Henry will now bolster the NFL’s premier rushing offense from 2023 and will be sharing the field with the dynamic Lamar Jackson.

Henry himself confirmed this development on X, previously known as Twitter.

Since being drafted by the Titans in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Derrick Henry, now 30, has been a cornerstone of their offense. Over his eight-year tenure, he’s amassed an impressive 9,502 rushing yards, including five seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards, highlighted by a remarkable 2,000-yard season. Henry boasts a stellar resume, being selected to the Pro Bowl four times and earning All-Pro honors thrice.

In contrast, the Ravens have struggled to field a consistent 1,000-yard rusher since Lamar Jackson achieved the feat in 2020, with their last consistent performer being Mark Ingram in 2019.

Despite tying his career-low yards-per-carry average last season at 4.2, Henry still managed to surpass 1,167 rushing yards. Notably, he operated behind an underwhelming offensive line, ranking 44th out of 49 qualifying running backs in yards before contact per rush but excelling in yards after contact, ranking eighth. This demonstrates his ability to create positive plays despite facing early contact.

Henry’s versatility extends beyond rushing, as he contributed 28 receptions for 214 yards in the 2023 season. While his former teammate Taylor Lewan suggests Henry may not prefer certain offensive schemes, Henry adapted by starting more plays out of the shotgun formation last season than in previous years.

Joining the Ravens, Henry enters a running back group featuring Justice Hill and the returning Keaton Mitchell, who is recovering from an ACL injury. The offensive line remains a work in progress, with Tyler Linderbaum and veteran tackles Ronnie Stanley and Morgan Moses slated to return, while both guards are expected to depart in free agency.
