Report: Chargers are open to trade offers for key fantastic duo

Ahead of the 2024 season, significant changes may be in store for the Los Angeles Chargers. The team is open to considering trade offers for notable veterans, such as defensive linemen Joey Bosa and Khalil Mack, as reported by Dianna Russini of The Athletic. Some teams speculate that the Chargers might eventually have to release Bosa and Mack due to salary cap constraints, leading them to wait for potential developments. While trade rumors involving Mack have surfaced before, this is the first mention of Bosa being possibly available. Nevertheless, these developments aren’t unexpected. The Chargers need to free up salary cap space, as they currently have approximately $75 million committed to Mack and Bosa for the 2024 season. Releasing both players with a post-June 1 cut designation could free up around $45 million in cap space, explaining why teams are willing to be patient.

Mack showcased a strong performance in 2023, achieving a career-high of 17 sacks. On the other hand, Bosa faced another injury-ridden season, marking his second consecutive year affected by injuries. However, at 28 years old, Bosa still holds potential as a player who could rebound if he manages to stay healthy. Given their talents and potential, it’s unsurprising that both players are generating widespread interest.
