Breaking News: Dodgers are Interested in Trading for Power-Hitting Shortstop after relieving Lux of his shortstop duties

The Dodgers have expressed continued interest in shortstop Willy Adames, whose name has resurfaced in discussions about the team. While Gavin Lux was initially slated to play shortstop this season, his recent defensive struggles prompted a change in plans. Manager Dave Roberts refrained from confirming Lux’s position, and later, Lux was officially relieved of his shortstop duties.

Brewers' Willy Adames returns to face Rays, with a smile, of course

Even before Lux’s demotion, reports indicated the Dodgers’ interest in acquiring Adames from the Milwaukee Brewers. However, Milwaukee has been hesitant to part with the 28-year-old infielder, who is set to become a free agent soon. Adames would offer the Dodgers defensive stability at shortstop and could allow Mookie Betts to return to second base. His offensive contributions are also valued, as he recorded 24 home runs and 80 RBIs last season.

While Adames could provide an immediate upgrade, his impending free agency raises questions about his long-term fit with the team. Nevertheless, he presents a solid short-term solution as the Dodgers navigate their options heading into the offseason.
