Senators acquire draft capital in exchange for Tarasenko in trade with Panthers

The Ottawa Senators have traded forward Vladimir Tarasenko to the Florida Panthers for a 2024 conditional fourth-round draft pick and a 2025 third-round draft pick. As part of the deal, the Senators will retain 50% of Tarasenko’s salary, providing them with $7,200,000 in cap space. The condition attached to the 2024 draft pick stipulates that if the Florida Panthers win the 2024 Stanley Cup, the pick will upgrade to become Florida’s 2026 third-round draft pick.

With these draft picks added to their arsenal, the Senators now possess 21 draft picks over the next three NHL Drafts, although the positioning of these picks is contingent on Florida’s performance.

Tarasenko has played 57 games for the Senators since signing a one-year deal in the offseason, registering 17 goals and 24 assists for a total of 47 points. This marks his second trade deadline move to a contending team in as many seasons, following the majority of his career spent in St. Louis. Across his 12 NHL seasons, Tarasenko has accumulated 287 goals and 328 assists, totaling 615 career points.
