Breaking News: Washington Nationals sign former Atlanta Braves hero

The Washington Nationals have struck a deal with a former NLCS MVP, outfielder Eddie Rosario. Rosario, who earned the NLCS MVP title in 2021 with the Atlanta Braves, has agreed to a one-year contract with the Nats. The news, initially reported by Daniel Álvarez-Montes of El Extrabase, reveals that the contract could potentially be worth up to $4 million with incentives included.

2023 Atlanta Braves Season In Review: Eddie Rosario - Battery Power

Rosario debuted in the major leagues in May 2015 with the Minnesota Twins, making an impressive mark by hitting a home run in his first major league at-bat, becoming the sixth Twin in history to do so. He showcased his speed by leading the league in triples during the 2015 season with 15, a feat not seen by a Twin since 2000.

Although Rosario spent the first six seasons of his career with the Twins, hitting .266 with 119 home runs, his defensive capabilities, particularly as a left fielder, were occasionally problematic, leading the AL in errors multiple times. After the 2020 season, the Twins chose not to tender Rosario, leading him to sign a one-year deal with the Cleveland Indians, who later traded him to the Atlanta Braves during the 2021 trade deadline.

Rosario emerged as a crucial asset for the Braves during their 2021 World Series triumph, notably achieving the rare feat of recording multiple four-hit games in the same playoff series. His stellar performance earned him the NLCS MVP accolade, ultimately contributing to the Braves’ championship victory.

Despite facing an injury that sidelined him for a significant portion of the 2022 season, Rosario made a strong comeback in 2023 with the Braves, batting .255 and hitting 21 home runs.
