‘Huge blow’ Just In Chargers Announce The Departure Of Another Top Super Star

The Los Angeles Chargers aim to inaugurate a fresh chapter under the leadership of Jim Harbaugh as head coach, potentially leading to notable changes by the time training camp commences in a few months. With gaps in their roster to address and the necessity to comply with the salary cap, the team took a step on Tuesday by announcing via Twitter the release of linebacker Eric Kendricks.

During the 2023 season, Kendricks showcased his prowess by starting in 14 out of 15 games, securing the second spot in tackles for the team. Additionally, he contributed with six passes defended, 3.5 sacks, seven quarterback hits, and seven tackles for loss. The release of Kendricks, according to Spotrac, will grant the Los Angeles Chargers a $6.5 million relief in their cap space. However, they still have to trim over $18 million in salary to meet cap requirements.

The arrival of Harbaugh signals a probable shift in the Chargers’ approach, particularly on offense, with an emphasis on running the football and bolstering the offensive line, despite having standout Rashawn Slater at tackle. The team currently holds the No. 5 pick in the upcoming draft, where speculation suggests they might target a right tackle or potentially opt for wide receiver Malik Nabers.

Nabers enjoyed an exceptional 2023 season at Louisiana State University, amassing 1,569 yards and 14 touchdowns. Over his three-year tenure there, he accumulated 3,003 yards and 21 touchdowns. Nabers’ exceptional speed makes him a coveted asset for the Chargers, especially considering their talented quarterback, Justin Herbert.
