Insider reveals the offensive weapon Jaguars are aiming to re-sign

Following a year sidelined due to his risky gambling habits, Calvin Ridley regained his footing with the Jacksonville Jaguars throughout the 2023 NFL campaign.

Formerly regarded as one of the burgeoning talents in the receiver position during his tenure with the Atlanta Falcons, Ridley faced an indefinite suspension from the league due to his involvement in sports betting.

Nevertheless, the Jaguars displayed faith in Ridley’s abilities, striking a deal to enlist him as their primary receiver.

Eager to capitalize on their prior season’s progress, Jacksonville saw the pairing of Ridley with Trevor Lawrence as a promising venture.

After completing his inaugural season with the team, Ridley’s performance evidently impressed, prompting the Jaguars to express a desire to extend his contract in free agency, as reported by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN through Dov Kleiman.

Despite his year-long absence from the game, Ridley put up impressive numbers with 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns, showcasing his resilience.

As a former first-round pick, Ridley demonstrated his enduring ability to outpace defenders with his precise routes and speed, while also exhibiting his knack for contested catches.

Although the Jaguars didn’t achieve the anticipated breakthrough, Ridley significantly enhanced their offensive arsenal.

The determination of Ridley’s market remains uncertain, compounded by the presence of other free agents and the upcoming talent pool in the 2024 NFL Draft.

While some teams may explore drafting their future receiver, signing Ridley guarantees the acquisition of a dependable X-receiver on the field.
