Breaking News: Just In Brewers reportedly confirm the Signing of top MLB Star

The Brewers recently inked a minor league deal with right-handed pitcher Kevin Herget. He’s now part of the major league camp and debuted in the spring game against Texas yesterday, delivering a scoreless inning of relief and striking out two batters.

No matter how long it lasts, he finally made it here

Herget entered the free-agent market in the previous offseason after spending time in the minors. The 32-year-old had a notable stint with the Reds in the MLB last season, appearing in 14 games and pitching 24 1/3 innings primarily in low-pressure situations. His performance included an earned run average of 5.18 per nine innings, along with a below-average strikeout rate of 12.4%. In Triple-A, Herget displayed better strikeout ability, recording a 22.7% rate across 47 1/3 innings. However, his minor league ERA of 5.13 was comparable to his major league figures, largely due to a high rate of home runs surrendered (1.52 HR/9).

Originally selected in the 39th round, Herget has amassed a decade-long career in professional baseball across five different organizations. His major league debut occurred two seasons ago with the Rays, where he made three appearances. In total, Herget has pitched 31 1/3 innings in the majors, posting an ERA of 5.74. Across six seasons in Triple-A, he holds a 4.25 ERA.

With a wealth of experience in the upper minors, Herget provides valuable depth to the Brewers’ camp in Milwaukee. He’s likely slated to begin the season as an option for long relief at Triple-A Nashville. Additionally, he still has two minor league options remaining, giving the Brewers flexibility to shuttle him between the majors and Nashville if they choose to add him to the 40-man roster at any point.
