Breaking News : Former Clippers Star Signs With Lakers

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported that Harry Giles, a free agent center, has agreed to a two-way contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. Giles previously appeared in 16 games for the Brooklyn Nets this season before being released, and he’s now joining the Lakers.

Before the 2021-22 season, Giles briefly spent time with the LA Clippers, where he competed for a backup center position in training camp against Isaiah Hartenstein. However, the Clippers ultimately chose Hartenstein, who had a remarkable season and secured a multi-year deal with the New York Knicks.

Since being drafted 20th overall in 2017, Giles has moved around various NBA teams without finding consistent playing time, but he has shown glimpses of his potential. As teams start to finalize their rosters, they’re signing players to both two-way and standard contracts to fill any gaps. While Giles may not immediately see significant minutes with the Lakers, he adds depth to their front court. This signing represents a prudent move for the Lakers, acquiring a big man with some NBA experience and the potential for growth despite limited playing time this season.
