Blue Jays Are Seen As Possible Landing Spot For Yankees’ Superstar

“Can the New York Yankees hold onto their star power hitter, Juan Soto? The team made a big move by acquiring Soto during the offseason, but he’s set to become a free agent after the 2024 season. While the Yankees are eager to keep him long-term, they’ll have to wait until free agency to secure his future. With Soto’s impending free agency, it’s expected that numerous other teams will vie for his talents. Bleacher Report’s Zachary Rymer even suggests that the Toronto Blue Jays could be a strong contender for his services.”

“According to Rymer, it seems the Blue Jays identified a need for a left-handed power hitter in their lineup,” he remarked. “Their left-handed batters only managed 57 home runs in 2023, with a significant portion from Brandon Belt, who’s now a free agent.

“This deficiency is likely to persist after the 2024 season, but this time, the Blue Jays will have the opportunity to address it by making the right financial offer to acquire Soto. With Justin Turner, Kevin Kiermaier, Yusei Kikuchi, and Yimi García coming off the books, the team will free up approximately $39.8 million in payroll space—roughly the amount Soto could command annually in a potential 13-year contract.”
