St. Louis CITY SC and Rapper Launch ‘Homegrown’ Music Collaboration

St. Louis CITY SC and local rapper Smino are collaborating on an exciting new music project called Homegrown. This joint effort seeks to spotlight five up-and-coming musicians from St. Louis throughout 2024 by providing them with special assistance, such as access to Smino, chances to perform, and artist spotlights. The initiative kicks off with a special Friday night showcase at the renowned Music at the Intersection festival in St. Louis.

Lee Broughton, Chief Brand Architect of St. Louis CITY SC, remarked, “The unique vibrancy of St. Louis is driven by its innovators, visionaries, creators, and achievers who are pushing our city into the future. Smino embodies this essence perfectly, and partnering with him on Homegrown is a privilege. Together, we aim to shine a spotlight on the abundant talent within St. Louis, amplifying local musicians as they hone their skills and leave a lasting impact on our community and beyond.”

As part of Homegrown, the chosen artists will engage in discovery sessions with Smino to gain valuable insights into advancing their careers. Additionally, they will perform at the 2024 CITY Block Party events alongside a headline act during the kickoff of the Music at the Intersection festival. Handpicked by Smino, the Homegrown artists represent a diverse range of musical genres, including Brock Seals, Hazmat, Lani Rose, Matt Jordan, and Tonina.

“These artists are incredibly talented and embody the diverse sounds of St. Louis. Each brings positive energy and vibes,” remarked Smino. “Music is my passion, and supporting my hometown, giving back, and inspiring others are crucial to me. Collaborating with CITY is truly special, and together, we will provide these artists with a new platform as they ascend in the music industry.”

“CITY SC celebrates St. Louis, showcasing the remarkable aspects of our region, including our people, cuisine, art, and music,” noted Matt Sebek, Chief Experience Officer of St. Louis CITY SC. “With Smino’s assistance, we are raising the bar in supporting local artists this year and are committed to proudly representing St. Louis.”

Smino’s dedication to St. Louis mirrors CITY SC’s commitment to the community. This partnership follows Smino’s annual “Kribmas” benefit show, illustrating his ongoing dedication to supporting the city. Additionally, Smino recently headlined the free CITY Block Party on the club’s MLS home opening day, further highlighting the strong bond between music and sports in St. Louis.
