Matt Araiza is being given a remarkable chance to revive his career in professional football. Araiza, who played college football at San Diego State University, was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. However, his professional journey faced hurdles from the start. In July 2022, Araiza was accused of rape by Jane Doe, who alleged that the assault took place at an off-campus party in San Diego. The lawsuit against Araiza was dropped by Doe in December 2023. Concurrently, Araiza withdrew a defamation lawsuit he had filed against Doe in July 2023.

Araiza’s legal team released a statement upon the dismissal of the allegations:

“Fortunately, substantial evidence led to Matt’s voluntary withdrawal from the lawsuit. Matt has consistently maintained his innocence. With the case concluded, Matt has emerged victorious,” as reported by ESPN.

“I am proud and honored to join the Chiefs by signing this contract. Continuing my NFL journey fills me with excitement. I’m deeply grateful to my family, who have been my steadfast support, and to my numerous friends who have stood by me,” Araiza expressed, as reported by JL Sports.

Araiza showcased his talent as one of the premier punters in college football in 2021, earning All-American recognition during his junior year at San Diego State. His addition is poised to significantly enhance the Chiefs’ special teams unit.
