Breaking News: Alabama reportedly confirm the signing of another top star

Alabama welcomed Josh Cuevas to their tight end group on Monday, as he announced his transfer to Tuscaloosa via social media. Cuevas is the second addition secured by head coach Kalen DeBoer through the portal on that day.

Josh Cuevas, Washington, Tight End

Having chosen to depart from Washington on February 5th, Cuevas will now reunite with his former tight ends coach Nick Sheridan, who recently took on the role of UA’s offensive coordinator. Joining the Crimson Tide, Cuevas becomes the fourth former Huskie to make the move, alongside quarterback Austin Mack, wide receiver Germie Bernard, and center Parker Brailsford. Originally from Los Angeles, Cuevas began his collegiate career at Cal Poly, where he amassed over 670 yards in two years. He later transferred to Washington before the 2023 spring season, where he made four catches totaling 164 yards and one touchdown. Notably, Cuevas also contributed on special teams, making a tackle in the College Football Playoff semifinal at the Sugar Bowl against Texas.

Standing at 6-foot-3, 239 pounds on Washington’s roster, Cuevas fills the void left by Amari Niblack, who departed for Texas after the retirement of Nick Saban, and Miles Kitselman, who moved to Tennessee. Presently, Alabama’s tight end group comprises CJ Dippr, Robbie Outzs, and Danny Lewis Jr.

DeBoer reportedly appointed former Georgia Southern coach Bryan Ellis as Alabama’s new tight ends coach. Just before Cuevas’ announcement, Alabama also reportedly welcomed Michigan defensive back Keon Sabb to their roster.
