Kansas City Chiefs man drops cryptic clue over future

Defensive End Charles Omenihu has suggested that his tenure in Kansas City may be coming to a close. During the 2023-24 season, he was on the field for 56% of the Chiefs’ defensive plays, where he managed to secure seven sacks and eleven hits on the opposing quarterbacks across 11 games.

Omenihu’s season began with a suspension stemming from a failed drug test, causing him to miss the early portion of the campaign. The 26-year-old had inked a two-year deal with Kansas City before the start of the 2023 season, which includes a provision allowing either party to terminate the agreement with minimal financial repercussions.

Unfortunately, Omenihu’s season ended prematurely due to a torn ACL sustained during the AFC Championship game in Baltimore, which also sidelined him for Super Bowl 58. This injury further complicates his future with the team.

Following the Chiefs’ win, Omenihu took to social media and said, “Want to feel appreciated.”

Omenihu additionally remarked, “I didn’t have a full season yet still managed to put up significant numbers. Is that overlooked? Perhaps I’ll need to replicate that performance once more to achieve my desired outcome in the end.”

According to Spotrac, Omenihu’s base salary for the 2024-25 season stands at $6.7 million, but it doesn’t come with any guaranteed money. He initially received $8 million in guarantees upon signing. However, due to his injury, there’s a possibility that his salary for the upcoming season might decrease.

Given Omenihu’s integral role in Kansas City’s formidable defense, his absence will undoubtedly be felt, regardless of how the situation unfolds.
