Newcastle United co-owner posts five-word message as key man ruled out of Arsenal, Chelsea & West Ham fixtures

Newcastle United might not have a fully fit striker available for their upcoming Premier League match against AFC Bournemouth on Saturday.

With Callum Wilson potentially out for up to 12 weeks due to an unusual pectoral tendon injury sustained during their recent win against Nottingham Forest, the team could find themselves without a recognized striker for the game.

Initially, there was hope that the 31-year-old’s injury could be managed, but as reported by Mail Online on Thursday, further evaluation has determined that surgery is necessary. The best-case scenario sees the striker potentially returning in April. This setback is significant not only for the Magpies’ No.9 personally, with his chances of making England’s Euro 2024 squad now uncertain, but also leaves Newcastle severely lacking in attacking options.

Presently, Eddie Howe’s team is without a fully fit senior striker. Alexander Isak has been sidelined for the last two matches due to a groin injury that has plagued him throughout the season. While there is a possibility he could feature in the upcoming match, starting seems unlikely given his condition.

Despite the challenging circumstances arising from injuries once again, Newcastle co-owner Jamie Reuben has attempted to downplay the situation.

On X, Reuben extended birthday wishes to fellow co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi, humorously asking, “Can you play up front?”

While most Newcastle fans found the humor in the exchange, some expressed disappointment over the club’s decision not to bolster the squad during the January transfer window due to compliance with the Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

In the absence of Isak, Anthony Gordon is anticipated to take up the leading role in the attack until Isak returns to full fitness.
